Mostly caused by T. Tonsurans. Also microsporum spp
Alopecia +/- pain and tenderness, itch, scaly plaques on the scalp as well as broken hairs
Kerion refers to a boggy mass which is usually very inflammed and tender. May have pus drainage and may lead to scarring hair loss
When caused by M. canis fluoresces green on wood’s lamp
Treated with oral antifungals e.g Griseofulvin
