—Onset Infancy (within the first months), puberty, most between 20 and 50 years or older.

—Involves areas with a high density of sebaceous glands i.e. Scalp, face-eyebrows, nasal folds, beard area, upper chest and back, axilla, inguinal area

—Malassezia furfur (yeast form) is said to play a role

Clinical Presentation

—Scale is yellowish and greasy or white and bran-like, often with “greasy” or white dry scaling macules,

—Papules, patches, plaques.

—Crusts and fissures are common in the folds behind the external ear. On the scalp there is mostly marked scaling (“dandruff ”), diffuse involvement of scalp. Scattered, discrete on the face and trunk. Nummular, polycyclic, and even annular on the trunk
